Is Your Child Ready For A Mercedes Pedal Car?
While your child is probably not ready for a Mercedes, he or she may be ready for a Mercedes pedal car. This is a toy car that a child operates by rotating the pedals of the car with their feet. You probably remember pedal cars when you were a kid. They are still around and despite the advent of battery operated cars, many parents like these cars that actually require the child to do some exercise.
The Mercedes pedal car requires some coordination on behalf of the child. They have to not only know how to work the pedals, but how to steer the car. The car does not steer very wildly - only slightly to the left or to the right. But it does steer. Most children love the idea of riding in pedal cars as they very much resemble real cars.
A child is ready for the Mercedes pedal car by the time he or she is about two years old. This is a good age to get the car for the child as they can get used to using the pedals and sitting in the car. At this age, it may be difficult for the child to coordinate their movements to both pedal and steer the car at the same time. You can work with your child to help him or her steer the car and begin to operate it. Unlike a bicycle that requires some balance, the pedal cars usually have four wheels and are low to the ground. They do not present the same risk to your child as a bike, from which he or she can fall.
Once the child becomes about three years old, he or she will have a better time using the Mercedes pedal car. They will be able to steer it and use it on the sidewalk as well as on bike trails, the driveway, the garage and even inside the house in some cases. You will still have to watch that the child does not take the car into the street. These pedal cars are for sidewalk or non-street use only. You should provide your child with the adequate supervision for their age when they are using the car and teach them never to go into the street with this toy. The child will enjoy playing with the pedal car until he or she is about seven years of age, at which time they may wish to switch to a bike.
